Christkindlmarket

Dates: 11/18 – 12/24

Christkindlmarket Chicago is inspired by the Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany, which began in 1545. The market is a holiday tradition for Chicagoans and visitors alike. Weekends are jam-packed with crowds, so consider stopping by on a weeknight. And don’t forget to reserve your parking in advance.

Ice Skating at Millennium Park

Dates: 11/18 – 3/5/17

Now in its 16th season, the McCormick Tribune ice rink has become a Chicago winter tradition drawing more than 100,000 skaters annually. Skating is free, and skate rentals are available for $12.

The rink is located in Millennium Park on Michigan Avenue between Washington and Madison Street. This area is especially busy during the holidays, so be sure to reserve parking in advance. One of the most convenient locations is Millennium Garage’s Grant Park North garage at 25 N. Michigan Ave., where you can reserve parking as low as $11 for three hours.

Chicago’s 103rd Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Date: 11/18 at 6pm

This year, Chicago celebrates its 103rd annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The tree itself is a 69-foot Norway Spruce and was selected out of 120 submissions!

If you’re heading to Millennium Park for the tree lighting ceremony, reserve your parking now. Millennium Garages are the closest garages to the park, and one of the most convenient locations is Millennium Garage’s Grant Park North garage at 25 N. Michigan Ave. You can reserve parking as low as $11 for three hours.

Magnificent Mile Holiday Lights Festival

Date: 11/19 at 5:30pm

The Magnificent Mile Holiday Lights Festival is one of Chicago’s headlining events during the holiday season. You won’t want to miss it. The parade begins on North Michigan Avenue at Oak Street at 5:30pm and is followed by fireworks over the Chicago River at 6:55pm.

Plan ahead by reserving your parking spot now. One of your best bets is at 900 N. Michigan, where you can park and walk indoors right up to the parade route on Michigan Ave. For more options, check out the map below.

McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Date: 11/24 at 8am

The McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade takes place on Thanksgiving morning from 8am until 11am. The parade is on State Street, beginning at Congress and moving northbound to Randolph. Parade organizers recommend that you arrive early to get a good spot. Early spectators start to arrive between 6am and 7am.

For a less crowed area, check out State and Adams street. And don’t forget to reserve your parking spot ahead of time.

ZooLights at Lincoln Park Zoo

Dates: 11/25-11/27, 12/2-12/4, 9-23, 26-31, 1/1

ZooLights at the Lincoln Park Zoo are a sight to behold! This family-oriented holiday celebration features incredible displays and holiday activities throughout the zoo grounds. This attraction draws huge crowds from late November through the month of December. You’ll thank yourself for reserving parking now.

Don’t miss the 16th annual One of a Kind Show: Holiday Edition when more than 600 artists from across North America come together to share unique and handmade gifts. The Polar Express Train Ride

Joffrey Ballet “The Nutcracker”

Dates: 12/10 – 12/30

Take in the magic of Chicago’s mysterious 1893 World’s Fair through the eyes of a child in the Joffrey’s new Nutcracker–reimagined by Tony Award-winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon.
