Trying to find free parking in Boston? Check out these five free parking tips below.
Boston is a historical city with tons of things to do and places to go. You’ll want to spend as much time as you can exploring the city and as little time as possible worrying about parking.
Believe it or not, there is free parking available around town and below we’ve outlined some tips on how to take advantage of the great opportunity. Look out for the bonus tip on how to reserve a parking spot in the city.
1) Free Parking in Boston – Street Parking on Sundays
Boston allows free parking on Sundays on any street parking meters. Whether you’re visiting from out of town or a resident driving within the city, this is something you can definitely take advantage of on the weekends. We’re not saying it will be easy to find free street parking, but it could be worth circling the block a few times if you aren’t in a rush to get somewhere.
2) Free Parking in Boston – Major Holidays
On major holidays, Boston won’t require you to feed the meters. Major holidays include New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. But be aware, these spots will be hard to find during busy holidays.
If you want to guarantee your spot ahead of time, you can use an app like SpotHero to reserve a parking spot in advance.
3) Free Parking in Boston – Nightly Metered Parking
For those wanting to spend their evenings in Boston walking the Freedom Trail or touring old neighborhoods, try taking advantage of the free metered parking in town. Most meters are enforced between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, so anything outside the time is fair game to park at for free.
Some meter hours vary so please check before you park there for free. Check out more specific rules on metered parking here.
4) Free Parking in Boston – Hotel Parking
Boston has a good number of hotels that offer free parking if you are a guest staying there. If you are staying at Best Western Plus Boston or Holiday Inn Boston for a few nights, take advantage of the free parking offered. For more information on those hotels with free parking, click here.
