Sweet 16 & Elite 8 Games on tap in Washington DC
If the first two rounds (I refuse to call the play-in games the first round) were any indication, this years March Madness is shaping up to be one of the best. Already we’ve seen the exit of number one seed Gonzaga, and a first in tournament history with #15 seed Florida Gulf Coast advancing to the sweet 16. The east regional did not see as many upsets with the brackets top four seeds all advancing. It’s sure to bring out some of the best games as all four teams have rich tournament histories. Let the madness continue!
Miami vs Marquette
Thursday, March 28th: 7:15pm
In the first game of the double header we have two programs playing their best basketball of the season. Miami is coming of a close win against Illinois, while Marquette survived an upset scare by future conference opponent Butler. Led by Shane Larkin, Miami has high hopes for this tournament, and many have them competing in the national championship. If Marquette wants to hang with the Hurricanes, they need another big game from guard Vander Blue, who has been touted as one of the best players in the tournament thus far.
Indiana vs Syracuse
Thursday, March 28th: 9:45pm
The second game of the evening brings two basketball powerhouse programs together in Indina and Syracuse. Hovering all year long around the number one ranking is Indiana, led by big men Cody Zeller and Victor Oladipo. Syracuse is no stranger to big games. A member of the Big East, Syracuse is consistently in the mix for the top team in the country and tournament. You can never rule out the Orangemen.
