Park in Pink: SpotHero Powers Lyft Parking

UPDATE: As of May 31, 2023, Lyft will no longer offer parking reservations through the Lyft app. Read more here.

SpotHero is teaming up with Lyft to make getting everywhere easier. Lyft riders in NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, and Denver can now book parking powered by SpotHero directly within the Lyft app.

By the end of the year, parking will be available on Lyft in over 50 cities. With Lyft as our partner, we’re able to save the day for more drivers through easy, affordable, and top-notch transportation.

How did you choose to partner with Lyft?

SpotHero and Lyft share a mission: making people’s lives better through easy, affordable, and top-notch transportation. When Lyft decided to expand their portfolio to include parking, we knew we had to be part of it.

In addition to our shared mission, we have the same areas of focus. Both SpotHero and Lyft value customer service, with domestic teams ready to support our drivers whenever they need us. We’re also both focused on improving and growing mobility across North America. Together, we’ll help drivers get places seamlessly in over 50 cities in the U.S. and Canada.

Why partner with Lyft now?

Personal car ownership is on the rise. In fact, more than $1 trillion worth of vehicles were sold in the U.S. and Canada alone last year. We know that car owners opt to drive at certain times while choosing public transit or rideshare at others. Parking is part of Lyft’s broader My Car product which focuses on providing benefits to Lyft riders for their personal vehicles. We’re excited to support this expanded consumer choice by partnering with Lyft!

Lyft has already begun to cater to this mobility mix with bikes and rental cars in their app. We’re excited to level up their existing mobility suite by powering parking for Lyft.

How does booking parking in the Lyft app work?

  • Open your Lyft app (not while you’re driving!) and look for the steering wheel icon in the bottom right corner.
  • Tap ‘Parking’ to see the closest available parking spots. Set your entry and exit time, and we’ll show you the cost of each spot before you book.
  • Use the in-app instructions and QR code to park. Paper parking tickets, be gone.
  • Extend your stay or pay with your card that’s already on file. It’s that easy.

You can use this new parking feature for hourly parking so you can get to your meeting (or movie) on time. You can also use it for events, such as getting a saved parking spot for concerts or a soccer game. You can even get an all-day parking plan for the days you commute to work.

What cities have access to Lyft Parking in the Lyft app?

At this time, we are live in over 30 cities including major markets like New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, and Denver. By the end of the year, we will expand to over 50 cities across the U.S. and Canada.

If Lyft customers encounter trouble with their reservation, what happens?

Have no fear – SpotHero’s Customer Heroes are here! SpotHero has a full-time, domestic, English and Spanish-speaking Customer Hero Team who are able to support drivers in real-time. Our Customer Heroes typically respond within seconds and we pride ourselves on our commitment to Giving Drivers the Right of Way. If any issues arise, SpotHero’s customer service is a phone call away.

Why should someone book parking in an app vs. driving up?

Booking parking in advance via an app like SpotHero or Lyft saves drivers time and money. Drivers don’t have to worry about circling the block for parking and know exactly what they will pay.

Will this impact bookings directly through SpotHero?

Partnering with Lyft opens doors for us to serve more drivers. Our strong industry relationships have led to leading inventory, which allows us to support different audiences. Between this partnership and our own channels, we are eager to meet drivers wherever they are and take them wherever they need to go!
