The Rockefeller Center’s iconic Christmas tree and ice skating rink are the pinnacles of New York tradition. On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, the Christmas tree will light up and signify the beginning of the holiday season in the city.
This year’s tree hails from Queensbury, New York, and towers over Center Plaza at 82 feet tall! The tree boasts over five miles of lights to brighten up the space and is topped with a 900-pound star adorned with Swarovski crystals.
The tree lighting ceremony will take place on Wednesday, November 22, 2022, at 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. CST. Not in New York City? You can watch the tree lighting ceremony live on CBS, which includes dozens of live performances to kick off the holiday festivities.
The Rink at Rockefeller Center is also in full swing! The ice rink fills up quickly, meaning you need to snag a reservation online before you go. Prices for adult access and skate rentals range from $21-$65 depending on the day and time of your reservation. If your child would like to take a spin but skating isn’t your thing, you can reserve a free chaperone pass. If you’re planning on skating all holiday season long, you can purchase a season pass.
You may purchase tickets for The Rink here.
For the best views of the city, you can venture to the Top of the Rock. The Rockefeller Center has an observation deck 70 floors up so you can take in the stunning cityscape. Adult tickets start at $40 and children start at $34. You can take the trip anytime between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m.
