The Women’s March on Washington is this Saturday, January 21st. With an estimated 200,000 attendees, you’ll want to plan ahead if you’ll be in DC! Here’s what you need to know, including your best bets for Women’s March parking near public transit.
Schedule of Events
- 8 a.m.— activities start with images and video on display
- 9 a.m. — pre-rally, with speakers, music and public service announcements
- 10 a.m. — official rally starts, featuring Katy Perry, Cher, America Ferrera and Uzo Aduba
- 1 p.m. — participants start marching toward The Ellipse where the program will end
The stage will be on 3rd Street and Independence Avenue by the National Museum of the American Indian. Road closures in the red zone will still be in effect from the Inauguration (see below), so we recommend that you park near public transit and take the Metro in.
The march will begin from the gathering location around 1 p.m. and head west on Independence Avenue SW, from 3rd Street SW, to 14th Street SW; then will turn north on 14th Street SW to Constitution Avenue NW; and will march west on Constitution Avenue NW to 17th Street NW, near the Ellipse and Washington Monument.
The map below illustrates the borders of road closure areas and vehicle restricted areas. Road closures and restrictions will not be as extensive as those on Inauguration Day, but you should still give yourself extra time and plan ahead.
The red outline indicates the border of street closures–everything inside this area will be restricted at some point during Inauguration weekend. Timing varies by location but most closures will be in effect from 12pm on Wednesday, January 18th through 1am on Monday, January 23rd.
The vehicle restricted area (outlined in green) indicates the zone where vehicle traffic is restricted to residents or businesses. These parking restrictions are scheduled to end by 1am on Saturday and shouldn’t be in effect during the Women’s March.
